How Green is Green  --Sorry we have had to cancel this trip

Saturday 30th September

There is a fascinating venue called The Centre for Alternative Technology  tucked away in a valley north of Machynlleth which explores how "Green Technology" can help us as a community and as individuals save our planet from Global Warming.

Spread over 7 acres the Centre explores sustainable living; a road map for the future that is achievable today. It explores just about everything from organic methods of growing food through to eco friendly building materials, dealing with waste, the generation of power through water, wind and Solar to name a few.  The exhibitions and interactive displays around the site not only allow you to find out how things work but will also stimulate thoughts on how we as individuals and society can help save our planet.

It is not only hardware technology but also ecological management of our woodlands  and open spaces. To demonstrate this there is a Quarry Trail that weaves its way up through managed broad leaf woodland, skims the Old Quarry and reservoir before opening out to reveal panoramic views across the Snowdonia National Park.

There is so much to explore this short advert only skims the surface. You can get a fuller picture by visiting the Centres website.

Please note that the entrance to this site is via a water powered cliff railway or via steps from the parking area. For a full access statement please refer to their Facilities and Access Statement
