Heading into Staffordshire we travel to Norbury Junction. Norbury Junction was formerly the junction of two canals , the now disused Canal to Newport and the Shropshire Union Main Line Canal. Our boat the "Shropshire Star" will be waiting at the junction to take us on fa return journey travelling north towards Goldstone.
The Shropshire Union Canal stretches from Wolverhampton to Ellesmere Port where it joins the River Mersey. It is one of the most picturesque canals in the country. The stretch that we will travel along starts with a long lock free section through some lovely countryside, it the passes through a cutting referred to as Grub Street Cutting passing 2 quaint canal-side pubs. As we approach our turning point there will be views of the Wrekin, some 15 miles from the canal.
During our journey up the canal we will be provided with a Fish & Chip Lunch.
The canal journey lasts for approximately 5 hours boarding at 11:30a.m. and disembarking at 4:30p.m.
